Hello, I am Kate. I am a documentary family photographer who loves to tell stories. I have had a camera in my hand since I was a teenager. (My first one was a bright blue Polaroid.) I documented my family, my friends and our lives together. My early career as a corporate educator and trainer took me around the country and the world. I always toted my camera with me, photographing the beautiful people that I met along the way. As my life took different twists and turns, I eventually got married, became a mom to two amazing children, and left my 9-to-5 job to pursue my love of photography. My work has appeared in local and international online magazines.
We’ve all heard it before. The years fly by so quickly. Our days are busy and often chaotic. Our children grow up and change in the blink of an eye. And now that I am a mom to two young children, boy, do I get it. We must stop to tell our children’s stories and our family’s stories. And like so many great tales, I believe that our best family stories are often made up of those everyday moments that fill our daily lives — those moments that at the time may feel ordinary. But really, it’s those “ordinary” moments that are truly extraordinary. The hanging out together, the playing together, the seemingly mundane daily routines, the messes, the chaos, the giggles, and even the tears.
I want to tell your family’s story through beautiful images, so that when your children are grown and have left your nest, you can have something to hold and to look back on, to cherish, and to pass down to future generations. Something that makes you stop smile, and remember your life at that time.
Because your real life is beautiful.
