Hello, I am Kate. I am a documentary family photographer and I love to tell stories. I have had a camera in my hand since I was a teenager. (My first one was a bright blue Polaroid.) I documented my family, my friends and our lives together. My early career as a corporate educator and trainer took me around the country and the world. I always toted my camera with me, photographing the beautiful people that I met along the way. As my life took different twists and turns, I eventually got married, became a mom to two amazing children, and left my 9-to-5 job to pursue my love of photography. My work has appeared in local and international online magazines.
I want to tell you why I am so passionate about documentary family photography.
Time is fleeting. Moments are fleeting. Kids grow up. They change. One day they will look different and act differently. They will stop doing that cute, funny or sweet thing that they used to do.
On the other end of the family spectrum, because this isn't just for families with young children, parents, grandparents and life partners grow older. Limitations will eventually stop them from doing things that they once did or enjoyed doing with their families. The sad reality is that they will not be here forever.
This is why I am passionate about capturing the ordinary and extraordinary moments of a family's life. So that as time marches on and those moments fly by, you have those memories forever, to have and to hold, whether that's a beautiful piece of artwork hanging on your wall or a custom-made album that you can look at, enjoy, and one day pass down to your children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
This is why I do what I do. If you believe what I believe, that is, capturing and preserving your family moments is valuable and important, then let's get started.
Because your real life is beautiful.
