In 2008, the United Nations began a resettlement effort to relocate more than 100,000 Bhutanese (although ethnic Nepali) refugees living in refugee camps in eastern Nepal. The United States committed to accepting at least 60,000 of the refugees. Of that total, an estimated 3,500 have settled in the Pittsburgh area. This collection of images documents some of the Pittsburgh area refugees' daily lives including where they live, shop and worship.
